Okay, so I posted new Snow photos in Anya’s Gallery from when we had snow here in Vegas on Dec.18th 2006. The wind out here is the normal crazy weather phenomenon though. Like today, the wind is gusting up to 40mph and it is scary being out there or inside because of the noise.
We have also watched several movies lately. First, I went to see “The Holiday” with my buddy Serena at the theater and except for the $9.50 each price tag on the movie, it was very good. Kate Winslet is a great actress and I adore her in this movie. She really carries the movie and its a very cute storyline. A little more to the ending would have been nice, but if they had done more it would have been predictable so I guess the way it ends is fine. I would give it 4 stars though, as it is lots of fun and very cute. Mostly a chick flick, but a good chick flick. They previewed the new movie “Premonition” though with Sandra Bullock and it looks really good although Hollywood has done the typical thing and given away a little too much in the trailer but if you don’t watch the trailer and just go see this movie it will probably be good. I still want to see it even though the trailer ruined a bit of it.
We also just watched “The Illusionist” this past weekend, which I loved. Its starring Edward Norton as a magician and turns into a 19th century murder mystery. Very good. We also watched “Crank” which was interesting, but I don’t recommend for the average person. If you like movies like “Pulp Fiction” and “Run Lola Run” you may like it. Although, to me its not nearly as good as “Run Lola Run” and not nearly as violent as “Pulp Fiction”. “Crank” stars Jason Statham and Amy Smart and has a cameo from an old CCPAC buddy of mine, Glenn Howerton. Glenn plays a doctor type and has a beard. “Crank” is only 87 minutes and it moves fast. Its about a guy that essentially has to keep his adrenaline going to stay alive. He was a hitman, blah, blah, blah…I think I would have loved it if a few things were different. I definitely would have wanted a different ending and if it explained just a little more of his history without shouting or talking in a whisper. Finally, we watched “The Covenant”. If you liked “The Craft”, this is the guy version. I liked “The Covenant” simply because I like things about the Salem Witch Trials, and this definitely has an interesting take on them. However, again another movie with an ending that simply ends, no real closure to it. Good special effects in this movie though except for the spider scenes, which I just don’t really care for spiders, but as far as spooky movies that don’t have some kind of girl climbing out of a well or down the stairs, this one is pretty good. “The Illusionist” was by far my favorite though and I will give it 4 stars and is appropriate for ages 8 and up. “Crank” I rate at 2 and a half stars and would say ages 21 and up! “The Covenant” gets 3 stars from me and is definitely for the 10-18 age range.
