First, a cute Arwen moment…Anya was getting ready for soccer practice tonight and Travis was helping her put on her shin guards. I guess Arwen pays close attention to what we do because she went and got Anya’s soccer shoes from the hallway. Both of the shoes and they matched and were even the right ones, as Anya has two pair of soccer cleats. I thought that was so cute! She brought them to Travis and sat them on the floor in front of him while he finished adjusting Anya’s guards. It was just so sweet.
And now for a funny Anya story…
The other day Anya was asking me about her previous birthdays. What kind of party she had when she was 1, 2, 3, etc…She remembers her 5th and 6th birthdays easily, but she asked me about the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd birthdays. I told her and she said “first I turned 1, then I was 2, then I was 3 and then 4, and then there was Arwen!”
Anya went to the pumpkin patch with her class on Thursday and my parents came up to watch Arwen for the day so I was able to go on the field trip with her class. We got to the patch at 930am and did not leave until after 1pm. We had a blast. It was so nice and so much fun! I had no idea this patch even existed. It was in Jasper, called Faye Whittemore farms. http://fayewhittemorefarms.com/
They had so much for the kids to do.
Mrs. W’s class, Anya’s class, started out on the hay ride where we went to find a pumpkin…

So many to choose from, but we finally found Anya’s pumpkin!

She sat next to her friends Ashley and Allysson on the way back to the other activities.

The next thing was fishing! I’m not sure there were any fish in that little pond, they assured us there was but I have no idea if anyone ever caught a fish that day.

After fishing we went to the petting zoo where the kids got to pet several chickens, a duck, a rabbit, and a small horse. Then we went to the hay loft where the kids got to go down a slide and jump off the hay loft into a big hay pile! Mrs. W, Anya’s teacher, even jumped…

The kids got a kick out of that. We then went to the giant slide similar to the one at Anya’s party. After the slide we finally got to have a sack lunch which consisted of ham and turkey sandwiches, a banana, graham crackers, Doritos, and chocolate milk. After lunch and a restroom break, we started up again! They went through an inflatable maze first, then we did the class photo!

Time for face painting!

After face painting they went through the hay maze, had a snack, and played tug-o-war! It was so much fun! The people working the farm were just as nice as could be and I would really recommend everyone visiting this patch!

Finally, here is Anya’s Kindergarten photo, I bought the CD with the copyright release so I could get my photos printed as I wanted to, but here’s her photo and a cute shot of the small one as well! Hope everyone had a great weekend, we are getting over a cough and some little colds here, but doing fine!
Anya turned 6 last week! Six! Very hard to believe! We had a double birthday party for her with her friend Acacia, who was also born on the same day as Anya. The party went great. We had it at the gymnastics facility here in Cullman. Everyone had a fantastic time. I’m so glad I had someone to split the cost with as there’s no way I could have done it alone! I’ve always felt like 6 deserves a big party, I guess because the biggest party I had was when I turned 6 and my parents gave me a roller skating party. I still remember that party so I hope that Anya will remember her 6th birthday party too. She’s already told me she wants a “Scooby Doo” themed party next year.
Arwen stayed with our friend Ramonia while we went to the party. That was great for everyone too because as much as I was running around it would have been hard to run after Arwen too. She had a great time with her Aunt Ramonia though. She showed Aunt Ramonia how she can open doors now!
The next day Anya had a soccer game and Mommy was so excited because Anya got a goal! She carried the play all the way down the field and that was so cool! Especially considering she got a goal too! She’s been doing great at kicking the ball for the goal kick plays but she still was showing no drive to get the ball and push a play, but she did this past Saturday and it was so cool!
My Dad got it all on video and we watched it when we got back home from the game again. It truly was exciting!
Then, this past Sunday we went to Travis’ company picnic down at Oak Mtn. We all had fun there too. Arwen bonded with L, the 8 year old daughter of another employee, and Anya bonded with J, who is L’s younger brother. Anya played football with the boys and actually got a touchdown! She gets that from her Mom apparently because I won the football toss game that day too!
You had to throw a football into a kiddie pool from 20 or 30 feet away and I got it in once!
So, I won! Even beating all the men that attempted it!
Hee, hee!
Travis wasn’t surprised though because when we lived in Orlando we went to Sea World regularly and one time I wanted him to win a Spyro Dragon toy for me by knocking down the cans. He tried but didn’t knock them down. I tried and won! ![]()
Apparently, I’m the thrower of the family and Travis is the kicker because I’m sure I would not be very good at soccer, luckily, Anya got traits from both us us!
In other news, last week a white cat showed up in our backyard. We got him neutered and got him his shots this week and Anya has named him Tony Stark, aka Iron Man!
Chance does not like the cat, as he is a Shepherd mix and Shepherds are generally not fans of cats, but I think as long as Iron Man keeps his distance and remains outside life will be fine for all concerned.
