This dog desperately needs a home…she’s super sweet, just no one has showed an interest in her. She’s a shar-pei mix and her name is Bama, but I call her Bama Girl. Very laid back dog, in foster care currently, but she’s been in foster care for several months now and it seems like she’s getting a bit depressed, almost as if she knows that no one has been interested in her. Please help me find her a home…she really is a sweetie. Housebroken, good with kids, dogs, and cats…someone butchered her ears when she was a puppy, so they look a little strange but it just makes her that much more lovable!
Okay, so I read the news…I don’t watch the news anymore on TV because honestly, I just don’t want to. I have no desire to be political. Pretty much if its something radically important I get told the story by Travis, who keeps up with the news pretty regularly or I read it on my yahoo page. Other than that I have no desire to watch “Good Morning America”, “The Today Show”, or any other news related programming. I would love to see true journalism come back in style but the days of “The Daily Bugle” (yes Spiderman comic reference) are apparently no more. I remember one of the rides at Universal Studios was the Spiderman ride and as you walk through the line you walk through various elements of a newsroom; the news desk, the filing room, the dark room, etc. Its really neat and it would be very cool if that was how today’s news was run, but sadly that won’t happen. Editorial writers such as John Grogan of “Marley and Me” fame who write stories just for the fun of reading them in the paper are even becoming few and far between. Especially unbiased editorials that have nothing to do with politics. Once upon a time I had aspirations to be a journalist and a writer, hence the English degree, but honestly I have no reason desire to be political therefore I have no desire to be a journalist. I’m happy to be a Mom, but yes there are days I contemplate careers again. I think more than anything I miss being a teacher, but as Mum I do that every day. No complaints here. I love my girls and Travis too…
On another note, Congrats to my cousin Candace and Brad on the welcome addition of Mary Bradley, born yesterday on Arwen’s 9 month birthday and Mary Bradley has far more hair than Arwen already! Oh, well, one day Arwen will have long hair and head full of it I’m sure! Mary Bradley weighed in at 7lbs 2oz. Mary Bradley say “Hello Life” and with arms wide open I say Welcome to the world little girl!
Sad to wake up this morning and hear the news on Patrick Swayze. I loved him. Particularly in Ghost. Big crush on him back then…He will be missed in both the acting community and among his many fans.
Goodbye Sam Wheat…

So, Anya was pretty much fine all week. Then, for some reason Thursday night after her second soccer game, I noticed that it seemed she had a stuffy nose again. Sure enough Friday, she was stuffy and having a runny nose most of the day. However, she never complains about not feeling well and she took some Tylenol and decongestant with no problems. So, Saturday afternoon, I start feeling the same problem come on. My throat was a little dry and sore feeling and then the stuffy nose hit me. I didn’t sleep well the past 3 nights so I’m under the impression that if Anya catches a slight cold and I’m tired, I catch the cold very easily. Oh well, it doesn’t seem as bad as the last cold we had back in July so hopefully we will be over it soon and hopefully Arwen won’t catch it. In other news, my brother and sister in law came up Friday which was nice because I had not seen him since Christmas. We just hung around our house but we got to visit and he got to play with the girls.
I actually got my Mom to sit down and watch Twilight with me as well. I think she liked it okay, considering its mostly for the younger crowd, even younger than me actually, but not quite at Anya’s speed. Although there really is nothing bad in the movie and Anya has informed me she likes the part where the girl gets bit! I think she just enjoys seeing that she gets rescued by Edward, so even at age 4 she can tell what’s going on in the ever popular series of Twilight.
I’m sure she’ll be delving into reading the books by age 8!
Speaking of reading, Anya can read several words now. I’m not sure if she fully understands the words yet, but she knows how to read the words, door, window, big, small, up, down, dog, and cat. Probably because I have note cards around the house with these words on them. But, hey at least she’s reading….
She also started her soccer games. The first game was interesting because Anya really doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body and neither does the rest of her team. So they were pretty content to just run around after the ball. Anya did get 1 goal, for the other team, but a goal’s a goal to a 4 year old! We really enjoy the games and Travis has become the video Dad, he’s recording all her games!
He won some really cool software at a conference recently so I think he’s secretly recording the games so he can create a really cool montage with his new software. So, we all get something out it actually.
Arwen’s crawling…everywhere! We have started baby proofing most of the house. She’s also getting two of her bottom front teeth, so she’s been real pleasant the past few days as those little suckers break the skin. Bless her heart she looks like there’s a water faucet attached to her bottom lip she’s drooling like a camel! But a very cute camel!
