So, about 2 weeks ago a dog came into the shelter with a hurt leg. We got him some special attention in the paper this weekend. Here’s the article…the picture is by yours truly!

So, I finally bought some squirrel food for our squirrels, Sawyer and Juliet…I renamed Starbuck to Juliet because of the TV show LOST…Sawyer and Juliet are my favorite characters on the show, so Starbuck has now become our blue jay bird, she’s a bit of a loner like the character on Battlestar Galactica so Starbuck fits the blue jay better…Juliet is our elusive squirrel though, hard to get photos of her. Sawyer has a much browner tail and apparently likes to pose for photos…Juliet is more gray and apparently does not care for the paparazzi.
Juliet…

1 more of Juliet…

And here’s Sawyer…

And one final shot of them together, running away from the paparazzi …
This past weekend was pretty uneventful for us on account of more rain. However, we did venture into our small town’s downtown “strawberry days” yesterday. Strawberry Days is essentially the opening of our summertime farmers market and most all the downtown businesses participate in a sidewalk type open house, but again the weather kept a lot of them from participating this year. We went though and Arwen fell asleep but she was dressed quite cute for the occasion. Anya got to ride a horse and jump in a jump house. Other than that we’ve been just enjoying a quiet weekend at home. Our friends Kim and Jake came over Friday night for homemade pizza and Kim made an excellent strawberry pie. Much fun was had with them and they were gracious enough to let me take photos of Ben, their German Shepherd, earlier in the week. Also, our local Animal Shelter is loaded with pups so please consider giving one a forever home if you can…the last three photos are of animals for adoption!

This is Ben…

And these three pups are available for adoption…

So, I tried making chocolate covered strawberries a few years ago but the chocolate just wasn’t working. Of course, I know now that I needed to add butter or shortening to the chocolate in a double broiler and this was the result….
