So, still not much going on around our house. Arwen will be 6 weeks old tomorrow and that’s a little hard to believe for us, but she’s doing well. We keep hearing about how everyone is sick out in the world so we still are not getting out much. We are just waiting for her to get her first shots and get past the 2 month mark, which will be soon and then we can venture out into the world a bit more. I have a few new photos but not many and I’ll try posting them in the next couple of days. I did take Anya to see Hotel for Dogs and while its a cute movie, I have to say I’m seriously disappointed in the message the film sent out. They had the perfect opportunity to make a statement about how dogs need to be adopted from shelters and yet they made the animal control officers and the animal shelter essentially the bad guy. This is just wrong and I wish movies would stop doing that. Shelters can not help the fact that there are so many animals brought in and picked up, and we wouldn’t have so many in shelters if people would start spaying and neutering their pets. Just a little rant there. I have to say that Beverly Hills Chihuahua had a far better message in it than Hotel for Dogs, so maybe one day Hollywood will make a movie that shows the real side of shelter life.
I’m sitting on the sofa with Anya and Arwen watching Toy Story. Because we’ve never watched this before!
Of course, we have. I’m going to try and get Anya to watch A Bug’s Life today though because she hasn’t watched that one very much and Monday’s are always are movie days. Lately, we’ve had a lot of movie days because of being inside so much with the cold, but it looks like later in the week the temperature might actually get into the high 40s around here.
Arwen’s doing well. She’s still keeping her Daddy and me pretty tired but its getting a bit easier. I’m able to pump a bit more milk now but its still hard to find time to get the laundry done. I guess I could be doing it now instead of watching Toy Story but where’s the fun in that?
Anya was very sad yesterday when Travis left for work. She cried and cried and I think it took everything Travis had to walk out the door. Later on she was sitting in my lap on one side and Arwen was on the other side and she was saying that “Arwen sleeping” and I told her yes she’s sleeping. And then she asked “Daddy at work?” And I said yes Daddy was at work. She then said “I love Arwen. And I love Daddy. And I love Amma (that’s me) and I love Chance and I love…Batman!” She really likes Batman these days and I just thought that was the cutest thing.
Then earlier today she was giving me a high five and and she said the Cat and the Hat does High 3 and she held up 3 fingers to give me a High 3 too. And she’s right, in The Cat and the Hat movie with Mike Myers he does a high 3 because he only has 3 fingers on his paw.
Because of the cold weather and all the colds/flu going around and Arwen being so little still we have been staying inside mostly, so I’m sure she’s getting a little bored and stir crazy like me but next week I’m taking her to the Circus and Travis is taking her to see Hotel for Dogs.
Arwen, Anya, and I went to get Arwen’s PKU test done today at the doc and have her 1 month check up.
The PKU test checks for genetic conditions relating to metabolism. Her first one came back fine, but they always do two to be on the safe side I guess.
Arwen’s stats are as follows:
Weight: 8lbs 3oz
Height: 21 1/2 inches
Head Circumference: 13 3/4 inches
So, she’s doing well. Growing and eating well. The doc said she sounds and looks great, so she’s a healthy girl, which is all we can ask for.
It was interesting venturing out with both of them by myself, but overall it went great. Not as bad as I had thought by any means. Just takes a little more time organizing everything.
Already getting looks and questions about her name, but we like it and its going to fit her personality great I think, because she’s a strong, sweet, little beauty and for people that know the story and movie The Lord of the Rings, they know that the character Arwen is all these things.
Anya is excited to have her friend Katie come over for a playdate tomorrow and she’s started back at gymnastics which she still loves!
Here’s some new photos for everyone too…
