So, my cousin Candace, who shares the same birthday as Travis, but is younger than Travis by 10 years, is getting married on this Saturday, Anya’s Birthday, in Alexander City, AL. We hate that we can’t be there to see her get married, especially since she was involved in our wedding, but we wanted to send out the best of wishes and Congratulations to Candace and Brad! Candace was the closest in age to me of all my cousins so she’s always been special to me and we are truly excited for her and Brad and wish them many happy years together!
Okay, so Travis and I had the opportunity to watch a couple of new videos this weekend because Anya has had a little cold. She’s doing okay, just a little runny nose! We watched “The Lake House” with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. I really liked the idea behind the movie, two people living two years apart who magically are communicating through letters after both having lived in the same lake house. The movie falls very flat though. Very slow moving at times and not explained clearly well at all. There were several scenes in the preview that were not in the movie that would have helped the audience understand a bit more, but alas they were not in the movie or even in the deleted scenes that were available on the DVD. The deleted scenes that were on the DVD were rather boring as well. I would give this movie 2 stars but it is fine for anyone to watch, no nudity, language, drugs, or violence. It is compared to “The Notebook”, but trust me this movie is nothing compared to “The Notebook”. If you’ve seen “The Notebook” before, rent it again and skip “The Lake House” all together.
“The Shaggy Dog” faired much better. Rated PG and starring Tim Allen, Kristin Davis, Robert Downey, Jr., and Danny Glover was hilarious. I should remind everyone how much of a dog lover I am and if you can get past the silly plot line and just enjoy the film as a Disney movie, then there is a lot of fun in this movie. Tim Allen is great as the voice of the dog and the dog is of course adorable. I give this movie 2 1/2 stars and I would say age 4 and up would probably enjoy this movie. No language or violence, but a little disturbing regarding animal testing
